Trading coming soon to Pokemon Go?

Written by

One of the features lacking in Pokemon Go since it released last July has been the ability to trade (both equipment and pokemon). Its been one of the few things the user base has been clamoring for from day one and one that would seem easy to implement as Ingress (the precursor to PoGo) has had for a while.

Well, according to BGR trading may be coming soon and here’s what it would look like…

“[Trading] won’t be through the internet,” Niantic senior product manager Tatsuo Nomura told Polygon. “You shouldn’t be able to exchange your Pokémon with someone who is 100 miles away from you. […] The person needs to be in your proximity.”

It makes sense and thats the way it works in Ingress. You “drop” the items you want to trade or store at a location and then can come back and pick them up at a later date. I would think that the trading in PoGo would work some what similar.

I am a little saddened to hear that you can’t trade all your Tauros with someone who has a ton of their region specific mons, but we’ll see.

What do you think? How should trading work in Pokemon Go?
